Saint Paul Fire Department Uses Karga to Save Lives
About a month ago, Saint Paul Fire started carrying blood to give patients before they get to the hospital, aimed at severe bleeding from crashes, shootings, stabbings and similar injuries. They’ve used it on three patients so far (a shooting, a stabbing and a broken dialysis fistula), and all three survived, with the department saying at least one definitely wouldn’t have made it otherwise. The on-duty EMS supervisor carries the blood in a temperature-monitored cooler and can start a transfusion within a minute, and the roughly $25,000 setup was paid for by the Regions Hospital Foundation, with Regions’ blood bank supplying the blood for free.
Guess what they are using to keep the blood safe and secure on the road? Karga!
The Saint Paul Fire Department is using KARGA to transport lifesaving blood to critically injured patients, while another fire department is using KARGA to carry its Stryker LIFEPAK defibrillator.
We love seeing first responders put KARGA to work in ways that truly matter—keeping critical equipment and supplies secure, organized, and ready when they're needed most.
